This section of our website is designed to help healthcare professionals better understand and respond to alcohol-related issues in their practice. The aim of the resources is to support confident, effective conversations with patients about alcohol use and to improve knowledge, reduce stigma, and strengthen the quality and consistency of care.
Alcohol Matters in General Practice
The Alcohol Matters in General Practice is a joint project between the Royal College of General Practitioners (Scotland) and Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP). The project has produced resources designed to increase understanding of alcohol harms and to facilitate conversations about reducing alcohol consumption while promoting approaches that reduce stigma.
Thiamine prescribing
This guidance note is to remind healthcare professionals to routinely prescribe thiamine to people thought to be dependent on alcohol.
