Research

There is an extensive and growing research base on the nature of alcohol and alcohol-related problems. From how alcohol effects biological processes in the body, to how different drinking patterns are established, we are learning more and more of the impact of alcohol on individuals, communities and countries.

A rigorous, independent research base is vital for effective alcohol policy as it can tell us which interventions are most likely to be successful in reducing alcohol-related harm.

As an evidence-based organisation, SHAAP aims to promote solutions to alcohol-related problems that are based on the best available research evidence.
